William Barnett was the seventh child of George Barnett & Mary Brangwin born May 4th 1820 at Harpsden, Oxon & christened October 29th, 1820 at Rotherfield Greys Independent Chapel, Oxon.
In 1841 William was living at Binfield Heath, Shiplake & was described as a journeyman. Head of the household was John Tyler, a farmer.
William married Louisa Tyler on December 31st, 1844 at St Luke, Brislington, Somerset. Louisa was born c1807 at Shiplake, Oxon, the daughter of Fanny Harris & John Tyler.
In 1851 William & Louisa were living at Binfield Heath, Shiplake with their 2 year old daughter, Maria Louisa. William was a carpenter employing 12 men. They had a house servant & lodging with them was a 22 year old nephew, Thomas Pike, a butcher.
William & Louisa & daughter Maria emigrated to Australia & arrived in Melbourne on January 16th, 1854. Two weeks after her arrival in Australia, Louisa died from dysentery, aged just 47. She was buried in the Scotch Cemetery, Geelong.

William married again on November 4th, 1854 in Sandhurst, Bendigo, Victoria. His second wife was Ann Reeves, the niece of his first wife. Ann was born c1833 in Shiplake, the daughter of Hannah Tyler & Charles Reeves, a wheelwright.
By 1863 William & family had moved to Hobart, Tasmania. They were not there long as by 1865 they were living in New South Wales.
By the late 1880s they were living at Brighton, Victoria at the time of William’s death.
William, aged 72, died on January 5th, 1893 at Carpenter St, Brighton, Victoria.
Ann, aged 64, died on September 30th, 1896 at The Prince Alfred Hospital, Prahran, Victoria. She was buried October 3rd, 1896 in the Cheltenham Cemetery, Melbourne, Victoria.
