Catherine Fry was the fourth child of Anne Fry & William Fry born c1854 at Hartfield, Sussex.
In 1861 Catherine was living with her parents & brothers & sisters at Dennetts Rd, Deptford, Greenwich.
By 1871 Catherine’s mother had died & her father had remarried. Catherine & her father & step-mother, Harriett, were living at Rat’s Farm, Netherfield, Battle with Catherine’s sister & 3 brothers & there were now also 2 half brothers & a half sister.
In 1891 Catherine was working as a laundress at Burwood House, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.
In 1901 Catherine was living with her sister Esther whose husband Thomas Knight had become an inn keeper. They were living at the Gate Inn at Ifield, Horsham, Sussex with Esther & Thomas’ 3 children. Catherine was described as a laundry maid.
By 1911 Catherine was working as a housekeeper for Fred Oldershaw, a farmer, at Westfield, Woking, Guildford, Surrey. Also living there were Emily & Frank Diment, a cowman on the farm & Albert Moland.
