Edith Harriett Fry was the first child of William Fry & Harriett Sargent born April-June 1867 at Netherfield, Battle, Sussex.
In 1871 Edith was living with her parents, brothers & sisters & step brothers & sisters at Rats Farm, Netherfield, Battle.
In 1881 Edith was still at home with her family now at Boyles Farm, East Grinstead, Sussex.
Edith married William Thomas Pledge on November 12th, 1888 at St Swithun's church, East Grinstead. William was born Jan-March 1869 at Godstone, Surrey, the son of Eliza & Walter Pledge, a carpenter.
In 1891 William & Edith were living at 15 West St, East Grinstead with their 2 children, William (1) & Edith (1 month). William was a house painter & paper hanger.
By 1901 the family had moved to 109 Eaton Rd, Croydon, Surrey, where William was a house decorator. In addition to the 2 children above they now had Winifred (7), Gladys (5) & Herbert (2).
In 1911 the family were living at 3&4 Marden Cottages, Woldingham, Godstone, Surrey & William & son William junior were both house painters. Also at home were Gladys, a daily domestic, Percy (Herbert), at school & Ernest (9).
Edith died in Jan-March 1931, aged 63, her death being registered at Croydon, Surrey.
William died on June 24th, 1935, at 95 Waddon New Rd, Croydon. Probate was granted on August 14th, 1935 to his daughter Winifred Harriett Pledge, spinster & his effects were £52.19.s.7d.
