Frederick William Grove was the fourth child of Henry William Grove & Mary Ann Mays born March 5th, 1857 & christened February 7th, 1858 at Croydon, Surrey.
In 1861 & 1871 he was at home with his parents in Croydon.
In the 1881 census there is a record for Frederick William Grove, 24, as a leading seaman on HMS Superb.
Having left the Navy in 1885, Frederick William (known as William) emigrated to Australia presumably to join his parents & siblings who had been living in Sydney since 1874.
In 1887 William married Sarah Ann Wallace in Sydney. They were to have 7 children.
Sarah Ann died, aged 40, on November 16th, 1897 at Alexandria & was buried on November 18th in the Naval Section of Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney.
Daughter Ettie married William C Langley in 1914 in Sydney.
William died on October 17th, 1945, aged 87, at Lewisham, NSW & was buried on October 18th in Rookwood Cemetery.
