Harry Horton was the first child of William Horton & Elizabeth Gamble born January 14th, 1872 at Easington, Yorks & christened September 8th, 1872 at West Bromwich, Staffs.
In 1881 Harry was with his parents & younger sisters Emelia & Mary at 240 St Pauls Rd, Harborne, Staffs.
Harry was still living at home, now 38 Hope St, West Bromwich, in 1891 with his parents & 2 younger sisters & brother Oswald. He was a draughtsman’s clerk.
In July-September 1900 Harry married Mary Royston Garner at West Bromwich. Mary was born November 6th, 1872 at West Bromwich, the daughter of Margarett Royston & William Garner, a scrap metal dealer.
In 1901 Harry (Hary on Ancestry.co.uk index) & Mary were living at Belle Vue Terrace, Constitution Hill, Wellington, Shropshire. Harry was a railway carriage & wagon & tramcar draughtsman.
Harry & Mary were still living in Wellington in 1911, but now at The Lindens, Wrekin Rd & Harry was now described as a rolling stock draughtsman for a railway carriage wagon builder . They had 2 daughters – Norah Margherita (9) & Nancy Doreen (7), both born at Wellington.
The 1939 register shows Harry & Mary living at 16 Upper Clifton Rd, Sutton Coldfield, Warks. Harry was a railway carriage & wagon draughtsman. Daughter Norah was living in Burnley in 1939 & was an assistant secondary school mistress. Daughter Nancy was also an assistant secondary school mistress living in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire in 1939. Neither daughters married.
Harry died on June 17th, 1944 at 59 Scott Park Rd, Burnley. Probate was granted on August 30th to widow Mary. His effects were £399.16s.4d.
Mary of 59 Scott Park Rd, Burnley, Lancs, died on May 12th, 1946. Probate was granted at Manchester on July 4th, 1946 to daughter Norah Margherita Horton & her effects were £2,025.9s.11d.
