Ann Richardson was the first child of George Richardson & Elizabeth Storey christened December 6th 1789 at Trimdon, Co Durham.
Ann married John Mole, a shoemaker, on Oct 10th 1808 at St Mary Magdalene, Medomsley. Witnesses at the wedding were William Richardson & William Ward. John was born at Shotley Bridge & christened September 23rd, 1786 at St Mary Magdalene, Medomsley, the son of Alice & John Mole.
John, aged 46, was buried April 6th, 1832 at St Michael & All Angels, Houghton-le-Spring.

Ann married for the second time on May 14th, 1836 at Bishopwearmouth. Her new husband was John Sedgwick, born c1782 in Eldon, Co Durham.
On the following day, May 15th, 1836 Ann’s daughter Elizabeth married John Robinson at Dalton-le-Dale, Co Durham. Her sister Alice was a witness at the wedding. Sadly John Robinson died in 1841 & Elizabeth married again in 1846. Her second husband was Robert Aungle, an agricultural labourer. (Robert had previously been married & the 1851 census shows him & Elizabeth living in Sunderland Lane, Houghton-le-Spring with Robert’s children – William (10) & Mary (2) as well as Elizabeth’s children. Interestingly Mary A(u)ngles went on to marry William Hall [ha.6] in 1872.)
Ann’s son William, a joiner, married Mary Wilson in 1839 in Houghton-le-Spring. They & their family were to live in Monkwearmouth.
In 1841 Ann & John Sedgwick, an agricultural labourer, were living at Sunderland St, Houghton-le-Spring with Ann’s children Thomas Mole, agricultural labourer, James Mole, a smith’s apprentice, Ann Mole (14). Also with them was William Sedgwick (20) a joiner’s apprentice & a 16 year old servant, Jane Moody & Robert Cockburn (25), a smith.
Son Thomas Richardson Mole married Elizabeth Robinson in 1848 at Bishopwearmouth & the 1851 census shows them living in Sherburn, Co Durham with Elizabeth’s widowed mother, Elizabeth Robinson, & their 1 year old son, John. Thomas was a plate layer.
Son James Storey Mole, a blacksmith, married Mary Ann Robb in 1848 at Monkwearmouth. They & their family lived in Sunderland.
Daughter Harriet married George Kirtley in 1849 at St Michael & All Angels, Monkwearmouth. George was a cordwainer born in Ferryhill. By 1851 Harriet & George were living in Seaton, Co. Durham with their 3 daughters & a son.
In 1846 daughter Ann gave birth to son George who sadly died later that year. Daughter Ann married William Walton Hudson in October 1850 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
By 1851 Ann & John had moved to Half-Way Houses, Houghton-le-Spring & John was now described as a laburer. With them was daughter (41) Alice French, a joiner’s wife. Alice had married William French, a carpenter, in 1839 in Houghton-le-Spring.
In 1861 John & Ann were again at Sunderland St & John was still working as an agricultural laburer at the age of 80. With them was widowed daughter Ann Hudson & her family – George (12), Harriet (8), William (6), Ann (4) & Mary E (11 months). Also with them was another grandson James Robinson (18), a moulder in the iron works. This was the son of daughter Elizabeth who had died in 1855.
John was buried May 1st, 1862 at St Michael & All Angels Houghton-le-Spring.
Ann died Feb 6th, 1864 & was buried Feb 11th at Houghton-le-Spring.
