Robert Richardson [r.2.2.10]

Robert Richardson was the tenth child of Thomas Richardson & Eleanor Powell, born 1834 at Seaham, & christened December 4th, 1834 at St Mary the Virgin, Seaham at the same time as his older brother Joseph.

Robert was living at home at the time of the 1841 census at White House farm, Houghton.

In 1851 Robert was an apprentice butcher living with his aunt Mary Dixon, a 58 year old widow (annuitant) at 25 Villier St, Sunderland. Mary was the sister of Eleanor Powell, Robert’s mother.

In 1861 Robert was living with his sister Elizabeth Richardson at Seaton Blue House. He was a butcher by trade.

In 1871 he was living at Seaham Park Place & living with him was niece Ann Richardson (daughter of his brother Thomas Richardson) & her husband Robert Earnshaw, & their daughter Elizabeth (1).

By 1881 Robert had returned to Seaton village & was again living with his sister Elizabeth & nephew Henry Richardson. He was still a butcher. Nephew Henry Richardson appears to be the son of Robert's brother, Joseph, born 1861 at Seaham Harbour.

By 1891 Robert (56) had retired & was living at Seaton with nephew Henry (25), a railway plate layer. They were still living together in Seaton village in 1901.

Robert died on August 8th, 1907 at Seaton, aged 73 & was buried at St Mary the Virgin, Seaham.
