Thomas Richardson was born at Bounder House, Tanfield & christened October 8th, 1758 at St Margaret's, Tanfield, Co Durham, the son of George Richardson.

Thomas married Elizabeth Morton at St Margaret’s, Tanfield, on March 3rd, 1782. Elizabeth was christened July 23rd, 1758 at Tanfield, the daughter of William Morton. Thomas & Elizabeth came to live at Biggin, near Esh, Co Durham by 1788 when their daughter Ann was born.
