Rachel Stone was the fourth child of John David Stone & Mary Hannah Storey born April 13th, 1886 at Bolton, Lancashire.
By 1891 Rachel & her parents were living at Townfield Cottages, Huyton, Widnes, Lancs. Rachel had 1 brother & 2 sisters.
Rachel began part-time work in the cotton mills at the age of 11.
In 1901 Rachel was living with her widowed aunt Esther Hilton at Rigby Lane, Turton, Lancs. Rachel, 14, was working as a cotton weaver.
Rachel was working as a domestic servant in 1911 in Tonge, Bolton for James Isherwood, a paper dealer, & family who resided at 682 Blackburn Rd. It was during this time that she met her future husband Thomas Taylor when he came to her employer’s house to clean the windows.
In Oct-December 1911 Rachel married Thomas Taylor in Bolton. Thomas was born July 17th, 1890 at Halliwell, Lancashire, the son of Mary Ann & Thomas Taylor, a lamplighter.
Thomas became a lamplighter employed by Bolton Corporation like his father. He served with the 5th Battalion of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment during WW1.

The 1939 register shows Rachel & children living at 10 Toronto St, Bolton. Daughter Marion was working as a cotton ?.
Son Thomas, known as Tom, travelled the world with the merchant navy.
Thomas of 10 Toronto St, Breightmet, Bolton died on May 22nd, 1958 at Bolton District General Hospital, Farnworth, Lancs. Administration of his will was granted to widow Rachel & his effects were £974.13s.10d.
Rachel died on March 11th, 1962 at 10 Toronto St, Breightmet, Bolton. Probate was granted to her daughter Marion who had married Brian Canavan in 1943. Rachel’s effects were £791.12s.4d.
