Miranda Stone was the third child of Joseph Stones & Miranda Barber christened November 18th, 1804 at Wednesbury, Staffs.
Miranda married John Baker on August 11th, 1822 at St Peter & St Paul, Aston, Birmingham. Witnesses at the wedding were Joseph Stone & Mary Cox. John was born January 25th, 1801 & christened February 22nd, 1801 at St Martin, Tipton, the son of Esther & Cornelius Baker.
In 1841 Miranda & John were living at Rolf St, Smethwick, Harborne, Staffs & John was an engineer. They had 2 children with them – John (10) & Caroline (2). No birth record has been found for Caroline, but a son Cornelius was born in 1839. Living close by in Rolf St was Miranda’s younger sister Hannah, who was married to Joseph Fletcher, & their 3 children.
John died in 1850 & was buried on January 28th, 1850 at St Martin, Tipton, Staffs.
In 1851 widowed Miranda was with her sister Hannah at the time of the census. They were living at Rolfe St. Smethwick & Hannah & Joseph Fletcher now had 4 children. Miranda was described as a ladies nurse.
Miranda was still living with her sister at Rolfe St in 1861 & was now noted as widowed.
Miranda died in Jan-March 1862, her death being registered at Kings Norton (includes Smethwick).
