Amy Wall [w.1.7.3]

Amy Wall was the third child of Josiah Wall & Sarah Ann L(e)ager born July 28th, 1880 at Wednesbury.

In 1881 Amy& her  older brothers were living with their parents at Cross St, Wednesbury where her father was a shingler.

The family had moved to 33 Potters Lane, Wednesbury by 1891.

By 1901 Amy’s mother had died & she was living with her widowed father & younger brother Josiah at 33 Potters Lane.

After the death of her father in 1904 Amy, along with brother Josiah, emigrated to the US.  They were accompanied by brother Ernest & his wife Grace who were already US citizens.  They sailed on the steamer ‘Parisien’ in August 1906 arriving in Boston, Massachusetts.

The 1910 US census shows Amy living with friends – Mary & Howard Macnutt, in Brooklyn Ward 24, Kings, New York. 

Amy was living with her brother, Ernest George, in 1930 in Chicago, Illinois.  She was working as a saleslady in a store.

Amy was naturalized on February 17th, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, her address being given as 1368 Sedgwick St, Chicago. 

The 1940 US census shows Amy living in Miami, Florida.  She was a companion of widowed Annie Zrerinsky & her widowed daughter Beatrice Kauffman.  Her brother Ernest & his wife had also moved to Miami by this time.

Amy was still living in Miami in 1945, now at 1051 N.W. 44th St, & she was now described as a housekeeper.

Amy died in December 1959 in Dade, Florida.
