Mabel Elizabeth Wall was the second child of Henry Edward Wall & Emma Rosanna Kettle born November 8th, 1878 at West Bromwich & christened January 18th, 1880 at Smethwick.
In 1881 Mabel & her parents were living at 3 Whitaker St, Litchurch, Derbyshire along with her brother Henry & newly-born brother Thomas.
By 1891 the family, now grown to include 7 children, had moved back to West Bromwich & were living at 9 Paradise St. Mabel, now 12, was a scholar.
Mabel was still living at home with her parents & 6 brothers & sisters in 1901 at 9 Paradise St & she was then working as a dressmaker.
Mabel married John Gadd at Christ Church, West Bromwich on April 30th 1904. John was born August 17th, 1881 in West Bromwich, the son of Mary & John Gadd, an aerated water traveller.
In 1911 Mabel & John were living at 11 Richmond Avenue, Wimbledon, Croydon, Surrey & John was a commercial traveller in paints etc. They had a 6 year old daughter Mabel Ethel.
John enlisted in 1915 & gave his address as 11 Richmond Ave, Merton & Morden, Surrey.
Mabel Elizabeth was an executrix of both her mother & father’s wills in 1922 & 1928 respectively.
Daughter Mabel was to marry Donald Alfred Oakes in July-September 1932 at Croydon, Surrey.
The 1939 register show Mabel & John were living at 11 Richmond Ave, Merton & Morden, Surrey. John was now a sales manager. With them was son Jack, a bank clerk, daughter Joy, a telephonist, & daughter Mabel & her husband Donald Oakes, a bank official.
Daughter Joy married Stanley A G Buckstone, an electrical engineer, in Surrey in 1948.
John died in Oct-December, 1970, aged 89, at Croydon, Surrey.
Mabel died December 15th, 1971, aged 93, at 3 Avenue Rd, London SE25.
