Charlotte Wall was the eighth child of William Wall & Mary Ball born March 15th, 1885 at Lea Broook Rd, Tipton & christened April 2nd, 1885 at St Mark’s, Ocker Hill, Tipton.
Charlotte’s father William died some time before the next census in 1891. At this time Charlotte was living at home at Lea Brook Rd with 1 sisters & 3 brothers & her mother, who had remarried after the death of Charlotte’s father. Her step-father, Joseph Groves, was a barge boatman.
Charlotte, a domestic servant, was still at home in 1901, now 11 St James St, Wednesbury. Her mother & 2 older brothers were also at home but her step-father was not.
Charlotte, her mother & brother Samuel all emigrated to Canada & came to live in Ontario.
Charlotte (Lottie) married William John Stone on October 30th, 1907 at Wychwood, York, Ontario. He was a woodworker the son of Ellen Lyford & Henry Stone born April 1st, 1879 in Drayton, Berkshire, England. Witnesses at the wedding were Lily & J T Greensides. Both were Methodists.
At the time of the birth of daughter Ida in 1909 Lottie’s occupation was washwoman & William was a labourer.
In 1911 they were still living in York, Ontario with daughter Ida & William was a labourer in a furniture factory. They were living next door to Charlottes’ mother, Mary Ann Groves & her brother Samuel.
By 1921 Lottie & William had returned to England & were living in Tipton, Staffs. With them was daughter Ida & son Stanley.
Daughter Ida married Alfred Kendrick in 1930 at Tipton. In 1939 they were living at 89 Leabrook Rd, Tipton & Alfred was a weldless steel tube pickler & Ida was a millinery saleswoman. Alfred died in 1946 & Ida married again in 1949 at Wednesbury. Her second husband was William Cutler.
The 1939 register shows William & Lottie living at 46 Ocker Hill Rd, Tipton. William was a general labourer. With them was son Stanley Samuel Stone born 1916, also a general labourer, & daughter Lottie Stone born in 1925, a hook & eye worker.
Daughter Lottie married Joseph A Rowson on August 8th, 1946.
Charlotte died April-June 1948 at Wednesbury.
William died Oct-December 1956 at Wednesbury.
