Hagar Freeth was the second child of Noah Freeth & Ann Robinson born November 11th, 1868 at West Bromwich.
In 1871 Hagar (Agar in census) was living with her parents & 2 brothers at Albert St, West Bromwich.
By 1881 the family had moved to 51 Mount Pleasant St, West Bromwich & Hagar now had 4 brothers & 2 sisters.
Hagar married George Edwards on December 25th, 1887 at St John the Evangelist, West Bromwich. Both George & Hagar made their mark. Hagar was living at 51 Mount Pleasant St & George at 53 Mount Pleasant St. Witnesses at the wedding were Eliza & William Felton. George was born June 11th, 1867 at Moxley, Staffs, the son of Anne & William Edwards, a collier.
In 1891 Hagar & George were living at Colliery Cottages, Perry Barr, Handsworth, Staffs. They were lodging with Mary & John Smith, a coal miner. George was also a coal miner. They had 2 children – George (3) & Ann (1).
By 1901 they had moved to High Heath, Walsall Wood, Handsworth & George was described as a coal miner hewer. In addition to George & Ann they now had Job (9), Arthur (7), Esther (5) & Noah (2).
In 1911 Hagar & George were living at Victor St, Heath End, Pelsall, Walsall & George was a coal miner Stallman. Sons George, Job & Arthur also worked at the coal mine as horse drivers. Also at home were Esther, Noah, Joseph (7), Daisy (4), Lily (2) & Daniel (5 months). Daughter Ann was working as a housemaid in Walsall. It was noted on the census that they had had 12 children, only 10 of whom were still alive.
Daughter Ann married George Kirby Goodwin, a miner, in 1912 in Walsall. In 1939 they & their family were living at Heath End, Aldridge.
Son Job married Violet Adelaide Clayton in 1913 at Walsall. In 1939 they & their family were living in Bridge Rd, Brownhills, Staffs & Job was a Council School Caretaker.
The 1939 register shows Hagar & George living at 6 Victor St, Aldridge, Staffs. George was now retired & with them was son Daniel, a builders labourer. Living next door was son Noah, a coal miner, and his wife Gladys & family. Noah & Gladys Jones married in 1920 at West Bromwich.
Son George & his wife Mary A & their family were living at 80 Coronation Rd, High Heath, Pelsall, Brownhills, Staffs in 1939. George was working as a limestone worker below ground.
Daughter Daisy married Charles Hall in 1929 & in 1939 they & their family were living at 201 Pelsall Lane, Rushall & Charles was a pipe layers labourer.
Daughter Lily married Arthur P Holdcroft in 1933 & in 1939 they were living in Lichfield & Arthur was a supervisor at the telephone exchange.
Son Joseph & his wife Amelia (nee Grice) & family were living at 80 Winterley Lane, Rushall. Aldridge in 1939 & Joseph was a coal mines stallman, unemployed.
Hagar died in July-September 1953, aged 84, her death being registered at Wednesbury, Staffs.
