Kate Elizabeth Freeth [fh.4.6.1.4.4.6]

Kate Elizabeth Freeth was the sixth child of William Freeth & Emma Standley christened December 18th, 1867 at Smethwick, Staffs.

In 1871 the family lived at Oldbury Rd, Smethwick & Kate now had 2 sisters & 3 brothers.

By 1881 Kate, her 4 brothers & 2 sisters & parents had moved to Cemetery Rd, Oldbury.

Kate married John Henry Field on August 3rd,1890 at St Peters, West Bromwich. Witnesses at the wedding were Kate’s brother Edwin Freeth & Ann Eliza Plant.  John was born March 24th, 1869 & christened April 18th, 1869 at St John the Baptist, Birmingham, Warwickshire, the son of Sarah & Samuel Field, a boat steerer.

In 1891 Kate & John were living at 1a Tyndal St, West Bromwich & John was a spring maker.

In 1901 John was living with his parents Sarah & Samuel Field in Tipton.  John was listed as married but wife Kate was not with him & could not be found at the time of the census.  He was working as a whitesmith.  There were 3 grandchildren also listed with Sarah & Samuel – Hannah (20), Annie (9) & Kate (8), all born in West Bromwich.

Daughter Annie Elizabeth married Joseph Insull Dolphin, a labourer, in 1917 in West Bromwich & in 1939 they were living in Wolverhampton with their family.

Daughter Kate married Eli Handley, a hand roller ship mill, in 1920 in West Bromwich & in 1939 they were living in West Bromwich with their son James C.

fh.4.6.1.4.4.6.3 Kate Field born November 6th, 1892 at John St & christened November 23rd, 1892 at St Andrew, West Bromwich; died May 1996 at Sandwell
