John Freeth was the seventh child of William Freeth & Sarah Gutteridge born July 25th, 1842 & christened November 27th, 1842 at Smethwick, Staffs.
In 1851 John was living at home at Roebuck Lane, Smethwick with his parents & siblings.
John was still at home at 6 Roebuck Lane in 1861 with his parents & brothers & sisters. He was a glass flattener.
In 1871 John was still at Roebuck Lane, both his parents having died, &
he was head of the household which included his sister Sarah, a screw turner,
sister Jane, a housemaid, nephew Leonard Freeth & niece Mary Blackman
(both children of sister Hannah).
