Frederick William Grove [g.11.5]

Frederick William Grove was the fifth child of Frederick Grove & Alice born April 12th, 1873 & christened September 14th, 1873 at Croydon, Surrey.

In 1881 and 1891 he was living with his mother and father, brother and sisters, first at Union Road, Croydon, then at Beulah Road Croydon. In 1891 he was a plumber’s labourer.

By 1901 he was still unmarried & living with his widowed mother Alice & sisters Olive & Ethel & brother Charles. He was a plumber.

Frederick was still living at home at 20 Beulah Grove in 1911 with his mother.  He was still a plumber.  Also at home was brother Charles,  a house painter, his adopted sister Emily & his widowed sister Olive Drewett & her son.

The 1939 register shows Frederick living with his sister Olive, now married to William Field, a hot water fitter & plumber, at 20 Beaulah Grove.  Frederick was still a plumber.

Frederick died March 13th, 1947 at 20 Beulah Grove, West Croydon.  Probate was granted in London on June 4th, 1947 to William Field, engineer fitter, (second husband of Frederick’s sister Olive) & Thomas Murphy, medical practitioner.  His effects were £1,825.13s.10d.
