Maud Mary Grove [g.11.6]

Mary Maud Grove was the sixth child of Frederick Grove & Alice born August 5th,1875 & christened October 17th, 1875 at St Michael & All Angels, Croydon, Surrey.

In 1881 and 1891 she was living with her mother and father, brothers and sisters, first at Union Road, Croydon, then at Beulah Road Croydon.

In 1901 Maud was a domestic servant for the McClurg family in Croydon. Mr James McClurg was an oil merchant with 6 children.

Maud married Frederick George Drewett on October 12th, 1907 at St Paul’s, Clapham, Lambeth.  Frederick, a porter,  was christened September 2nd, 1877 at Holy Trinity, Croydon, Surrey, the son of Caroline & James John Drewett, an auctioneer’s porter.  Witnesses at the wedding were Alice Grove, Maud’s mother,  & Charles Grove, her brother.  Frederick’s younger brother, Ernest Drewett, had married Maud’s sister Olive Phyllis Grove in 1902.

In 1911 Maud & Frederick were living at 27 Neville Rd, Croydon, Surrey & Frederick was a furniture porter.

Maud died in Jan-March 1926, aged 49, at Croydon, Surrey.
