Olive Phyllis Grove was the seventh child of Frederick Grove & Alice Remington born July 3rd, 1877 at Croydon, & christened November 25th, 1877 at St Michael & All Angels, Croydon, Surrey.
In 1881 & 1891 she was living with her mother and father, brothers and sisters, first at Union Road, Croydon, then at Beulah Road Croydon.
Olive was still living at home in 1901 with her widowed mother Alice at Beulah Rd, Croydon.
Olive married Ernest Edwin Drewett on September 20th 1902 at St Saviour’s, Croydon. Witnesses at the wedding were Charles Grove & Alice Grove. Ernest was born Oct-December 1878 at Croydon, the son of Caroline & James John Drewett, an auctioneer’s porter. Ernest’s older brother, Frederick George, was to marry Olive’s sister Mary Maud in 1907.
At the time of the birth of their son Leonard Olive & Ernest were living at 46 Saxon Rd, Croydon & Ernest was an electrician.
Ernest died in Jan-March1905, aged just 26 years.
In 1911 Olive was living with her widowed mother Alice at 20 Beulah Grove, Croydon with her son, Leonard Ernest (7). Olive was having to work as a charwoman to support herself & her son. Also with them were her 2 brothers Frederick William, a plumber, & Charles Richard, a house painter, & her ‘sister’ Emily, a barmaid.

Olive remarried in Jan-March 1925. Her second husband was William Field, born March 31st, 1874.
The 1939 register shows Olive & William living at 20 Beulah Grove & William was a hot water fitter & plumber. With them was Olive’s brother Frederick, a plumber & Millicent E Lake, a cook for a caterer.
William died March 15th, 1948 at 20 Beulah Grove. Probate was granted to William Frank Hollands, solicitor & his effects were £1,367.6s.3d.
Olive, of 96 Tunstall Rd, Croydon lived to the good age of 90 years, & died on September 8th, 1967 at Queens Hospital, Croydon. Administration of her will was granted to son Leonard Ernest, a chef, & her estate was £987.
