Ernest Horton was the seventh child of Samuel Horton & Ann Maria Oakley born at Barr St, Lower Gornall , Sedgley, Staffs on September 18th , 1887.
Ernest was living at home in 1891, at 15 Barr St , Lower Gornall with his 4 brothers & 2 sisters.
In 1901 Ernest was still at home, now 33 Barr St , with his parents & 5 brothers & a sister.
Ernest married Rose Hannah Woodall on April 10th, 1910 at St James, Lower Gornall. Rosannah was born April 9th, 1887 at Gornall Wood, Staffs, the daughter of Mary Ann Burrows & James Henry Woodall, a coal miner.
In 1911 Ernest & Rose Hannah (Rose) were living at 4 Chapel Walk, Gornal Wood & Ernest was a millman in a fire brick maker's yard. They had a 9 month old son, Ernest Reginald.
The 1939 register shows Ernest & Rose living at 33 Barr St, Sedgley & Ernest was now a general labourer at the mine above ground. With them were sons Howard, a brickyard worker (setter), & James, a general labourer at the mine like his father.
Living next door at 32 Barr St was son Ernest & his wife Alice Mary (nee Fellows) & Ernest was a coal miner pikeman. They had 3 children at home in 1939 – William, Harold & Margaret Rose.
Son Thomas & his wife Doris I (nee Screen) & child were living at 19 Hermit St, Sedgley in 1939 & Thomas was a horse driver clay below ground.
Ernest died on September 29th, 1957 at 33 Barr St, Gornal Wood. His will was administered by son Ernest Reginald, miner. His effects were £650.
Rose Hannah died on January 5th, 1959 at 33 Barr St, Gornal Wood. Her estate was administered by son Ernest Reginald, miner. Her effects were £686.
In 1961 son Howard married Marjorie Fullwood in Wolverhampton. Marjorie was born Marjorie Blakeway in 1915 & had previously been married to Howard Fullwood.
