Charles Leonard Horton [h.1.4.10.8]

Charles Leonard Horton was the eighth child of Samuel Horton & Ann Maria Oakley born May 22nd, 1889 at Barr St, Lower Gornall, Sedgley, Staffs & christened on June 12th, 1889 at Lower Gornall.

Charles Leonard (known as Leonard) was living at home in 189, at 15 Barr St, Lower Gornall with his 4 brothers & 2 sisters.

In 1901 Leonard was still at home, now 33 Barr St, with his parents & 5 brothers & a sister. 

Leonard married Elizabeth Griffiths on December 25th 1910, at Lower Gornal.  Elizabeth (known as Lizzie) was born October 9th, 1889, the daughter of Teresa & Samuel Griffiths, a coal miner.

In 1911 Leonard & Lizzie were living with Lizzie's parents at 10 Red Hall Rd, Lower Gornal. Leonard was a stoker, fireman. Listed with Leonard & Lizzie was a 2 year old son, Leonard Griffiths.

The 1939 register shows Leonard & Lizzie living at 69 Himley Rd, Sedgley where Leonard was a coal miner pikeman below ground. 
Living next door was son Samuel & his wife Doris I (nee Swain). Samuel was a brick setter & Doris was an unemployed roofing tile loader.

Leonard, aged 78, died on July 19th 1967 at 406 Himley Rd & was buried at Gornal Wood Cemetery, Staffs.

Lizzie, aged 84, died on June 14th, 1974 & was buried at Gornal Wood Cemetery, Staffs.
