Cuthbert Pallister [p.1.2.5.]

Cuthbert Pallister was the fifth child of Cuthbert Pallister & Hannah Blenkinsop born December 28 th , 1742 at Langley Lane, Lanchester, Co Durham.

Cuthbert was entered into the church at All Saints Lanchester in 1748 along with his 2 sisters & brother under the heading ‘births/baptisms of papists & dissenters'. His parents may have been Presbyterians since their second child Thomas who died in infancy was christened at the Presbyterian Chapel in Ryton.

It appears that the family relocated to the West Auckland area of Co Durham, south of Lanchester.

Cuthbert married Margaret Stainbank on January 28th, 1770 at Auckland St Helens, Co Durham by licence. The record of the Durham Diocese marriage bonds & allegations shows that Cuthbert of Evenwood, a joiner & his brother John Pallister, yeoman of Sandyhill House, Auckland St Andrew were bound over to the sum of £200 on January 27th, 1770. There is a record of a baptism for Margaret, daughter of Margaret & Francis Stainbank of Auckland St Helens, on September 20th, 1746 at St Nicholas, Durham.

Margaret died on May 26 th , 1791 at Toft Hill, nr West Auckland, Co Durham
