Jemima Pallister [p.1.6.3.6.6.1.6]

Jemima Pallister was the sixth child of John Pallister and Jane Stewart Forbes, born June 13th, 1896 at Lamesley, Co. Durham.

In 1901 Jemima was living at home with her parents at Eighton Banks, where her father was a quarryman.

Jemima was the only child living at home in 1911 which was Favels Cottage, Eighton Banks.

Jemima married Matthew Hawes in July-September 1921 at Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.  Matthew was born Septembe 15th, 1893, the son of Alice & William John Edward Hawes, a joiner.

The 1939 register shows Jemima living at the Vicarage, Bellingham, Northumberland with her 9 year old daughter, Jean S Hawes.  Jemima was a voluntary helper with school evacuation.  Husband Matthew was living at 180 Heaton Park Road, Newcastle-upon-Tyne with his widowed father at this time, where he was a tram conductor.

Matthew, of 37 Stephenson Rd, Heaton, Newcastle, died September 7th, 1951 at the General Hospital, Newcastle-upom-Tyne.  Probate was granted to his brothers, William John Edward Hawes, ship’s plumber, and Frank Hawes, fitter.  His effects were £1,008.11s.10d. 

Jemima died in Oct-December 1955 on the Isle of Wight.
