James Pallister was the ninth child of Joseph Thompson Pallister and Ann Allison, born April 23rd, 1883 at Kyo, Annfield Plain, Lanchester.
James was living with his parents at Pontop Rows, Kyo in 1891.
By 1901 James’ mother had died and his father had remarried. James, listed as Jamie, and his sister Frances were boarding with his sister Sarah Ann and her husband John Bullerwell at Catchgate, Kyo in 1901. James was a railway engine cleaner.
James married Elizabeth Ann Todd in October-December, 1909 at St.Thomas, Collierly, Co.Durham. Elizabeth was born on July 20th, 1883 at Collierly, the daughter of Elizabeth Ann Brown and Joseph Todd, a coalminer.
In 1911 James an Elizabeth Ann were living at 21 Wesley Terrace, Annfield Plain with their 3 month old son, Ernest. James was a mason at the colliery.
The 1939 register shows Elizabeth & James living at 11 Victoria Terrace, Stanley & he was now a building contractor. With them were son Ernest, a certified assistant school master, daughters Eva, a certified assistant school mistress, Linda & Annetta, both probationer nurses, son James, seeking work not previously employed & daughters Elizabeth & Jean, both at school.
James died, aged 89, on January 5/6th, 1973 at 11 Victoria Terrace, Annfield Plain, Stanley. His effects were £2,123.
Elizabeth Ann died, aged 91, on April 21st, 1974 at 11 Victoria Terrace, Annfield Plain, Stanley. Her effects were £5,033.
