Margaret Pallister was the sixth child of Robert Pallister & Mary Anne Cook born April-June 1868 at Perkinsville, Co Durham.
In 1871 the family were living at Perkinsville, Pelton, Co Durham where Margaret’s father was a coal miner.
Margaret was still living at home in 1881, now South Row, Ouston, Co Durham with her parents & 2 sisters & a brother.
By 1891 Margaret’s father had died & she was living with her widowed mother, brother James, & sisters Nellie (Mary Ellen) & Annie. She was listed as Maggie on the census.
In July-September 1898 Margaret married John Carrick Richardson at Chester-le-Street, Co Durham. John was born December 17th, 1867 & christened February 23rd, 1868 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Haltwhistle, Northumberland, the son of Hannah Carrick & Joseph Richardson, a coal miner & Wesleyan local preacher.
In 1901 Margaret & John were living at 54 Hedley St, Coxlodge, Gosforth, Northumberland & John was a draper’s assistant.
By 1911 John had become a carpet salesman & he & Margaret were living at Normadale, Lyndhurst, Low Fell, Co Durham, near to Margaret’s sister & her husband Watson Young. Margaret & John now had a son Norman, aged 7.
John, of Normadale, Lyndhurst died on September 1st, 1924 at Crescent Gardens, Harrogate. Administration of his estate was granted to Margaret on September 20th, 1924 & his effects were £669.17s.10d.
Margaret died on June 5th, 1930 at 7 Studley Gardens, Low Fell, Gateshead. Probate was granted to son Norman, a motor engineer’s cashier, on July 28th, 1930. Her effects were £623.14.7d.
