It appears from the parish register of Pickering that Jane had 2 illegitimate children. The first was Thomas Nicholson Stainsby, christened June 23rd, 1828, noted in the register as son of Jane a single woman. This son died aged 2 in 1830 & was buried on October 1st, 1830 at St Peter’s Pickering. Her second son, Thomas, was christened September 1st, 1830 at St Peter’s, Pickering & died aged 1 year old & was buried August 6th, 1831 at St Peter’s Pickering.
