Joseph Stainsby was the fourth child of Thomas Stainsby & Elizabeth Sunley christened November 1st, 1807 at St Peter’s, Pickering, Yorks.
Joseph died on February 9th, 1831, aged 23 & was buried February 11th, 1831 at St Peter’s, Pickering. He was interred in the same plot as Thomas Sonley who died July 2nd, 1835. Their monumental inscription suggests that they both suffered from a protracted illness & reads:
Lingering sickness did us sieze
And no physician gave us ease
We sought for mends but all in vain
At length our Lord did ease our pain
