Eliza Wall was the first child of Thomas Wall & Mary ? christened April 19th, 1835 at Smethwick, Staffs.
In 1841 & 1851 Eliza was living at home at Holyhead Rd, Wednesbury with her parents & brothers & sisters.
On Christmas day 1852 Eliza married John Parker, a shingler of iron, at St Martin, Tipton, Staffs. John was born c1831 at Wednesbury, the son of Thomas Parker.
In 1861 Eliza & John were living at Mistey Croft, Wednesbury & John is a shingler of iron.
John was described as a puddler in the iron works in 1871 & he & Eliza were living at 47 Elwell St, Wednesbury. With them was a 7 year old nephew, John A Parker. This was in fact John Albert Smith, the son of Eliza's sister Margaret & her husband Joseph Thomas Smith. It appears that John was brought up by his aunt & uncle until he emigrated to USA to join his parents.
By 1881 Eliza & John were living at 4 Victoria St, Wednesbury & John was a forgeman, as was nephew John who was still living with them.
Eliza & John had returned to live at 47 Elwell St, by 1891 & John was still working as an iron shingler.
By 1901 John, aged 70, had retired & was living on his own means. The couple were still at 47 Elwell St.
They were still at the same address in 1911 & John was described as a retired shingler. It was noted that they had had no children.
