Fanny was born c1843 in France, the daughter of Ann Tildesley & Gregory Harrison, a labourer.
In 1871 Thomas was living at 10 Ashton Rd, Openshaw, Lancashire & was described as a hammerman, iron & listed as married. At the time of the census Fanny was still in Staffordshire & was boarding at 6 Beggars Row, Wednesbury with her 4 children – Mary (8), Hannah (6), Thomas (4) & Eliza aged just 2 months. Fanny & family appear to have been living with her sister, Mary Ann (also born in France) & her husband Edward Meekin & family.
By 1881 Fanny & Thomas were living together at 9 Britannia St, Openshaw, Lancs & Thomas was a ‘leverer’ at the iron works. Their family had grown & now included Mary, a cotton weaver, John Thomas, a hair plucker, Eliza, George Henry (8) & Fanny (5), both at school, Jane Ann (4) & Arthur (1).
The family had moved by 1891 & were now living at 482 Mill St, Openshaw, Bradford, Manchester & Thomas was now a general labourer. At home were daughters Mary, Eliza & Fanny, all cotton weavers, George Henry, a moulders apprentice, & Jane Ann, a scholar.
Daughter Mary married Mark Whitehead, a railway carter, in 1897 at Chorlton, Lancs.
Daughter Fanny married John Corns, an iron foundry worker, in 1899 in Openshaw, Bradford. By 1911 they had 2 daughters, Fanny & Jessie & were living in Openshaw, Manchester. They were still at the same address in 1939.
By 1901 Thomas had died and widowed Fanny was living at 7 Alice St, Openshaw, Bradford, North Manchester. Living with her was daughter Jane, a cotton weaver, & 2 grandchildren – Fanny (6) & Norman (3) Ashley. These were the children of Fanny’s daughter Eliza who had married Charles Edward Ashley in May 1891. Sadly Charles died in 1903 and Eliza married again in 1906, her second husband being Tom Burston Buttle.
Fanny was living with daughter Jane Ann & her husband William Hilton, at 24 George St, Bradford in 1911. Son George Henry & his wife Amy (nee Mather)) were living at Clayton, Manchester with their 2 daughters, Edith Lily & Bessie & George was still an iron moulder.
