Joseph Wall was the first child Joseph Wall & Ellen Hadley born Jan-March, 1870 at Wednesbury, Staffs.
In 1871 Joseph & his parents were living at 19 Trow? Square, Wednesbury.
In 1881 Joseph, his parents & brothers were all living at 9 Lea Brook Rd, Tipton. They were living with Joseph’s widowed grandfather.
Joseph was still with his grandfather at the time of the 1891 census. Grandfather Joseph Wall had remarried by this time to Mary Ann Hadley & they were living at Dudley St, Tipton. Both Joseph & his grandfather were working as puddlers at the iron works.
Joseph married Hannah Elizabeth Robinson on April 17th, 1892, at St James, Hill Top, West Bromwich. Both were of Tunnel Road & witnesses at the wedding were Joseph’s brother Samuel & Jane Harris. Hannah was born 1872 at West Bromwich, Staffs, the daughter of James Robinson, a puddler. Hannah had given birth to a daughter, Florence Gertrude Robinson, in 1890 at West Bromwich who was brought up as Florence Gertrude Wall.
In 1901 Joseph & Hannah (Ann E in census) were living at 8 Philip St, Warrington, Lancs & Joseph was an iron worker (pudddler) at the forge. They had 2 children – Florence E (10) & John J (8). Living with them was Joseph’s father, still noted as married, & Joseph’s younger brother William, both of whom were also puddlers.
Joseph & his wife Hannah Elizabeth were living at 39 Forster St, Warrington in 1911. Still with them was Joseph’s widowed father. Both were iron workers at the forge, as was William, (Joseph junior’s brother) who was still living with them. Also recorded on the census was Joseph & Hannah’s son, John Joseph (18), who was a galvanizer at the wireworks. Daughter Florence was working as a servant for James Rimmer, a farmer, and family at Altcar Hall, Altcar, Warrington. Also working on the farm at that time was William Burgess who was to become Florence’s husband in 1912.
Son John Joseph married Elizabeth Kilfoy in Oct-December 1919 at Warrington.
Hannah died Jan-March 1929, aged 57, at Warrington, Lancs.
Joseph died Jan-March 1934, aged 63, in Warrington, Lancs.
Son John Joseph & his wife Elizabeth & their 2 children were still living at 39 Forster St Warrington in 1939. John was a wire drawer.
Daughter Florence & husband William & family were living at Cyril St, Warrington in 1939 & William was a railway coalman.
