Charles Wentworth Webster [we.2.1]

Charles Wentworth Webster was the first child of Charles Webster & Elizabeth Wentworth christened June 14th,1822 at the Chapelry of Uxbridge.

Charles could not be found in the 1841 census. It is known however that he wrote a will on September 27th, 1845, two years before his death. He died on May 15th, 1847 at Coombe, in the parish of Bishop Steignton, Devon, & the death was registered at Newton Abbot. He was 25 years old. The death certificate states that Charles had been a chronic bronchitic for 10 years & the cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis. Presumably Charles had moved to Devon due to his ill health. Charles was buried at St John the Baptist, Hillingdon on May 21st, 1847.

This is the last will & testament of me Charles Wentworth Webster of Uxbridge in the County of Middlesex. I give unto Harriet Warrington late of Uxbridge aforesaid and late house keeper to my father the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to her within 12 calendar months after my decease. I give & bequeath unto my sister Elizabeth Shoppee Webster all the rest & residue of my property whether real or personal & over which I have any disposing power after payment of my debts funereal & testamentary expenses. And I direct my executor to receive & get in my said property & monies & invest the proceeds thereof upon Government or real securities at interest & lay out & invest the interest thereof so that the same may accumulate in the nature of compound interest until my said sister shall attain the age of 21 years & when she attains that age my said principal monies & accumulations thereto are to be paid or transferred to her. But if my said sister Elizabeth Shoppee Webster shall die under the age of 21 years without having any child or children then I give my said principal monies & the accumulations thereto unto my sister Emma Wentworth Webster & my brother Wentworth Webster equally between them. And if my said sister Elizabeth Shoppee Webster shall die under the age of 21 years leaving any child or children who shall live to attain the age of 21 years then such child or children shall have and be entitled to my said principal monies & accumulations. If I should die in England it is my wish to be buried at Hillingdon. I appoint Joseph Shoppee of Uxbridge aforesaid builder sole executor of this my will. Proved at London 19th July 1847 before the worshipful Joseph Phillimore Doctor of Laws & surrogate by the oath of Joseph Shoppee the sole executor to whom admon was granted having been first sworn only to administer.

The witness Sarah Foster Bourn was the sister of his step mother Caroline, who his father married in 1843.
