Mary Ann Winder was the fourth child of William Winder & Mary Austin born May 15th, 1832 at Skinner St, Clerkenwell, & christened September 2nd, 1832 at St James, Clerkenwell, Middx.
In 1841 Mary Ann was living at Walton St, Aylesbury, Bucks with her mother & sisters Harriett (11), Charlotte (5) & brother William. Mother Mary was described as independent & her father, William, could not be found at this time.
In 1851 Mary Ann was visiting her aunt Mary Austin (38), a laundress, at Wheatley, Oxon & her family. Mary’s husband Samuel was not at home at the time of the census.
In 1861 Mary Ann was again visiting another uncle – James Austin, a
63 year old widower, who was a retired gardener at Grove Place, Burnham.
