Charlotte Winder was the fifth child of William Winder & Mary Austin born at Clerkenwell & christened March 26th, 1837 at St Clement, City Rd, Islington.
In 1841 Charlotte was living at Walton St, Aylesbury, Bucks with her mother & sisters Harriett (11), Mary Ann (9) & brother William. Mother Mary was described as independent & her father, William, could not be found at this time.
In 1851 Charlotte was visiting her aunt & uncle Martha & Thomas Allen at the School House, East Burnham Common. Thomas (76) was a gardener & Martha (62) was a schoolmistress & the sister of William Winder.
