William Ellis [el.5]

William Ellis was the fifth child of John Ellis & Ellen (Helen) Wright christened June 17th, 1782 at Tibshelf, Derbyshire, the same day as brother John.

William married Mary Allsop on July 4th, 1803 at Tibshelf. Mary was christened April 26th, 1786 at Tibshelf, Derbyshire, the daughter of Sarah & Job Allsop.

William & Mary's daughter Ann married Isaac Keeling on December 27th, 1830 at Pinxton. Sadly Ann died in 1833 & was buried May 8th at Pinxton.

In 1841 William & Mary were living at Pinxton Wharf, Pinxton & William’s occupation was given as a coke burner. Their son George was still at home & working as a coal miner. Also living with them was Sarah Cettle, aged 80, & William Hardy, their grandson – the son of daughter Sarah who had died a few years earlier. William Hardy’s father, Jeremiah, was living nearby with his second wife, Rebecca Limb.

Mary of Meadow Row died, aged 64, & was buried on June 9th, 1850 at St Helen’s, Pinxton.

In 1851 widowed William (Ellin in census index) was still living at Pinxton Wharf, Pinxton, & was described as a pensioner. Living with him was son Joab (Job), a coal miner, & his wife Ann & their 5 month old son Thomas. Also with them was William’s grandson William Hardy (20) & granddaughter Ann (16), children of deceased daughter Sarah.

William of Pinxton died in 1852, aged 69, & was buried on August 16th, 1852 at St Helen’s, Pinxton.

el.5.2 Sarah Ellis christened November 14th, 1809 at Tibshelf, buried March 17th, 1837 at St Helen, Pinxton, Derbyshire
el.5.3 Ann Ellis christened December 5th, 1812 at Pinxton, Derbyshire, buried May 8th, 1833 at Pinxton
el.5.4 William Ellis christened November 8th, 1814, at Pinxton, Derbyshire, died October 30th, 1885 at Pinxton
el.5.5 Richard Ellis christened November 6th, 1816 at Pinxton, Derbyshire; buried March 20th, 1886 at Grassmoor, & buried at Hasland Cemetery, Chesterfield. 
el.5.6 George Ellis christened November 14th, 1819 at Pinxton, Derbyshire; died June 10th, 1879 at Speedwell & buried June 13th, 1879 at Staveley, Chesterfield. 
el.5.7 Elizabeth Ellis christened February 26th, 1823 at Pinxton, died March 16th, 1823 at Pinxton, Derbyshire
el.5.8 Job Ellis christened October 17th, 1824 at Pinxton, Derbyshire
el.5.9 Samuel Ellis christened May 24th, 1829 at Pinxton; buried May 26th, 1829 at St Helen’s, Pinxton
