Louisa Freeth was the ninth child of Samuel Freeth & Jane Rebecca Lambert born May 6th, 1873 at Smethwick, Staffs.
In 1881 Louisa was living at 4 Birmingham Rd, Oldbury where her father was a glass maker. Louisa had 5 sisters & a brother at home.
In 1891 Louisa was still living at home at Birmingham St, now #8, along with 4 sisters & her brother.
Louisa married Edward John Porter in July-September 1896 at Christ Church, Oldbury. Edward was born July-September 1874 at Rawnsley, Cannock, Staffs, the son of Jane & William Porter, a carter.
In 1911 Louisa & Edward were living at 386 Dudley Rd, Birmingham & Edward was a pork butcher. They had a 13 year old daughter, Gladys, living at home. Edward's older sister Jane (40) was visiting at the time of the census. They had 3 servants living with them, 2 of whom were assisting in the shop.
Edward died on July 5th, 1919 at Dudley Rd, Birmingham. Probate was granted on December 5th, 1919 to widow Louisa & his effects were £3,029.13s.3d.
Daughter Gladys was to marry Thomas Hollingsworth in 1922 at West Bromwich.
The 1939 register shows widowed Louisa living with daughter Gladys & her husband Thomas, a bacon curer, & family at Lonsdale, Wood Green Rd, Wednesbury. It was noted that Louisa was living on private means.
