Thomas Freeth [fh.4.7.4]

Thomas Freeth was the fourth child of Josiah Freeth & Sarah Downing born December 1st, 1784 & christened January 16th, 1785 at Oldbury Old Dissenting Chapel. 

Thomas (Frith) married  Hannah Taylor on Christmas Day 1817 at St Peter &St Paul, Aston, Birmingham. Hannah was born c1785

Thomas, a nailer, & Hannah came to live at Greets Green, Oldbury Lane, West Bromwich. This was their home in 1841 with 3 daughters – Sarah (20), Rachel (15) & Hannah (13).  Sadly Hannah died in 1843, aged 20.

There is a burial for Hannah Freeth aged 2 weeks at Greets Green on October 12th, 1847 at Christ Church, West Bromwich.

Mother Hannah also died before the next census in 1851.  Widowed Thomas was living with his daughter Rachel at Red Lion St, West Bromwich & was described as a horse nail maker.  Living next door was daughter Sarah who had married John Thorns in 1842 & their 2 children – John & Hannah Maria Thorns (Thrones).  Sarah & John, a miner, had a son Thomas christened in  November 1842 when they were living at Greets Green.  Sarah Thorns died in 1854 & husband John married again in 1854, his second wife being Margaret Sheldon.

Thomas died in December 1861 & was buried on December 15th at Christ Church, West Bromwich.

Daughter Rachel married Joseph King, a carter, in April 1864 & by 1871 they were living in Dudley.

fh.4.7.4.2  Rachel Freeth christened August 13th, 1820 at All Saints, West Bromwich; died July-September 1877 in Dudley
fh.4.7.4.3  Hannah Freeth (Frith) christened January 12th, 1823; died July 30th, 1843 at West Bromwich
