Thomas Pallister was the first child of Thomas Pallister & Mary Blackburn born December 19th, 1808 at Birtley & christened March 26th, 1809 at Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.

Thomas married Frances Lamb (nee Brown) on October 20th, 1835 at Lamesley, Co Durham. Frances was born August 2nd, 1804 & christened December 16th, 1804 at Longbenton, Northumberland, the daughter of Mary Wile & John Brown.
In 1841 Thomas & Frances were living at Birtley with their 2 children – Hannah (4) & Thomas (8 months). Thomas was a labourer. They had had another daughter, Margaret Jane, christened March 6th, 1839 at Lamesley who died in infancy.
Thomas & Frances were living at Look Out, North Side, Birtley in 1851. Thomas was now a waggon rider & they had 3 children at home – Hannah, Thomas John, & William (6).
Thomas had a fatal accident in December 1854. Whilst working on the Springwell Incline of the Pontop & Jarrow railway, he was riding on a train of empty wagons. The wagon on which he was riding came off the line & fell on him resulting in his death. (Leeds Times, December 16th, 1854) The Pontop & Jarrow railway (more recently known as the Bowes Railway, after the Bowes-Lyon family who were major share holders), was built in 1826 by George Stephenson. It was designed to transport coal from Durham pits to boats on the River Tyne.
Thomas, of Birtley North Side, was buried on December 10th, 1854 at St Mary & St Cuthbert’s, Chester-le-Street.

Frances remarried on December 26th, 1857, the marriage taking place at St Andrew, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Her third husband was George Robson. George was born c1800 in Northumberland.
In 1861 Frances & George were living at Ouston Village, Co Durham where George was a screenman. Four of George’s children were with them – Thomas (23), John (21), Joseph (16) & Ann (12) as well as Frances’ sons Thomas & William Pallister, both coal miners.
By 1871 Frances & George had moved to Perkinsville, Pelton, Co Durham & George was now described as a labourer. With them was George’s son Thomas & a grandson – John Robert Pallister, aged 5.
There is a death recorded for Frances Robson in July-September, 1878, aged 74 at Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.
There is a death recorded for George Robson in April-June, 1879, aged 80
at Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.
