Maria Winder was the ninth child of Edmund Winder & Elizabeth Style born January 28th, 1798 at Burnham, christened February 27th, 1798 at St Peter's Burnham.
Maria married William Stevens on June 7th, 1832 at All Souls, Langham Place, St Marylebone, London. William was born c1788 at Exeter, Devon. William was a widower. Witnesses at the wedding were Robert Winder (Maria’s brother), Anna Winder (Maria’s sister) & Maria White.
In 1841 Maria & William were living at Brook Lodge, Sunninghill, Berks & William was a saddler. They had a 7 year old son, William.
In 1851 Maria & William were still living at Sunning Hill, Berks & William was a master saddler. Son William was still living at home.
William died aged 66 & was buried on September 4th, 1854, at St Michael & All Angels, Sunninghill, Berks. William wrote a will which was witnessed by son William, Maria’s sister, Anna Winder & Sarah Ewington leaving all his assets equally to his wife Maria & son William.
By 1861 widowed Maria was living at Smiths Green, Sunning Hill, Berks with her son William, 26 & daughter-in-law Julia (25). William was a saddle & harness maker.
In 1871 Maria was still living with her son William, a saddler, daughter-in-law Julia & granddaughter Fanny (9) at Sun Green, Sunning Hill.
Maria died on July 21st, 1876 aged 79, & was buried July 25th at St Michael & All Angels, Sunninghill. Her will was proved by son William, a saddler, on August 10th, 1876 & her effects were under £5000.
