John & Jane were living at Favels Cottage, Eighton Banks in 1911& John had now become a shifter at the coal miner. Only daughter Jemima was still at home. All their 6 children were still alive. Daughter Jane Stewart was employed as a waiting maid at the home of William David Robb, a corn merchant, and family at 7 Grosvenor Villas, Jesmond, Newcastle-upon-Tyne at the time of the 1911 census.  Jane never married & at the time of her death in 1965 she was living at 33 King St, Birtley, Co Durham.

Son Mackenzie & wife Margaret Ann were living at Springfield Avenue, Eighton Banks in 1911 with their 3 sons & 2 daughters.  Mackenzie was still a coal miner. With him was wife Margaret, son Edward, a sheet metal worker, son Norman, clerk & typist & daughter Margaret Ann, a hairdresser.

Daughter Susan married John Snowball in 1911 & the 1939 register shows Susan & John, a church verger, living at 16 Mitchell St, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.
