Robert Pallister was the fifth child of Robert Pallister & Margaret Speed christened May 19th, 1816 at Longbenton, Northumberland.
Robert married Rachael Blakey in September 13th, 1845 at Longbenton. Rachael was christened May 4th, 1823 at Warwick, Cumberland, the daughter of Elisabeth Turner & William Blakey, a gardener.
There is a record that suggests that a Robert Pallister & Rachael had a daughter, Hannah, christened at Holy Trinity, Wingate Grange on January 5th, 1844. Around this time Robert’s brothers William & Ralph were miners recorded as living in this area of Co Durham, so it is likely that Robert too was working around Wingate. However there is no further record of this child found to date therefore Hannah has not been included in the list of their children.
In 1851 Robert & Rachael were living with Rachael’s widowed mother Elizabeth Blakey (64) who was an innkeeper. Their address was Camperdown, Longbenton & with them were children Elizabeth (4) & Margaret (1). Robert was a coal miner.
In 1861 Robert, still a coal miner, & Rachael were still living with Rachael’s mother who was now the innkeeper at the Grey Horse Inn, Killingworth. They had 5 children with them at this time – Elizabeth (14), Margaret (11), William (8), Isabella (5) & Rachael (2).
By 1871 the family had moved to 1 Country View, Cambois, Morpeth, Northumberland. Robert was still a coal miner & still at home were William, a coal miner, Rachael, & Mary Ann (5).
At the time of the death of son William in 1873 the family were living at Benton High Row.
Robert died in 1879 at Tynemouth, aged 64.
