Henry Horton was the child of William Horton & Elizabeth born c1785 at Lapworth, Warks, & christened September 1st, 1788 at St Martin, Birmingham.
Henry married Esther Lines on May 20th 1804 at St Mary’s church Handsworth, Staffs. A witness at the wedding was Edward Horton. Esther was born September 1st, 1786 at Burton-upon-Trent & christened December 31st, 1786 at St Modwen church, Burton-upon-Trent, the daughter of Esther & John Lyne.
In 1841 Henry & Esther (Horter in Ancestry.co.uk index) were living at Walsall St, West Bromwich, Staffs where Henry was a labourer. Their children at home were Richard (20), an engineer, Charles (20), a miner, Henry (15) a forgeman, Joseph (15), a plasterman, & William (14). Daughter Hannah Wilkinson (20) & her daughter Sarah (3) were also at Walsall St, as were daughter-in-law Elizabeth Horton (married to son James) & her children Jane (6) & Esther (6 months). Another Esther Horton, aged 10, was also listed, but it remains uncertain who her parents were as there was no record found for the birth of Esther c1831 to Henry & Esther. (There is a record of a christening of Esther Maria Horton on October 31st, 1830 at Christ Church, West Bromwich to a mother Ann Horton.)
Henry & Esther were still living at Walsall St in 1851. Daughter Hannah (Anna in census) aged 32, & her daughter Sarah, aged 12 were still living with them. Living next door was Henry & Esther’s son William, a 24 year old labourer & his wife Sarah (21) who had a 2 month old daughter Esther.
Henry was still a labourer at the age of 76 & living with Esther, now a tailoress, at Walsall St in 1861. Daughter Hannah was still living with them who was also a tailoress. Hannah’s daughter Sarah & her husband, George Stephens, an iron roller, were also living with Henry & Esther.
